USPTO to Hold Webinar on Final and Proposed Patent Rules

by Sheldon Mak & Anderson on September 5, 2012

Los Angeles copyright lawyerThe U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently announced that it is holding a webinar on September 7 to discuss its final and proposed patent rules under the America Invents Act. It will also hold a live event on September 6 at the USPTO headquarters in Virginia to discuss the upcoming transition to a first-to-file-system.

The events are the latest outreach efforts by the USPTO in an effort to provide guidance about the unprecedented changes to the U.S. patent system. As we mentioned last week, the agency will also be holding a series of “road shows” across the country to gage feedback and respond to the public’s concerns about the new rules.

The webinar will be held at 12:30 p.m. EDT on September 7 and will feature remarks by USPTO Director David Kappos, Deputy Director Terry Rea, Commissioner for Patents Peggy Focarino, General Counsel Bernie Knight, Chief Judge James Smith, Lead Judge Michael Tierney, and Chief Communications Officer Todd Elmer. Instructions regarding how to access the webinar and additional details regarding the roundtable are available on the USPTO website.
